MLB World Series Preview – 2011 World Series Underdogs
Sports betting fans love an underdog. There is something exciting about watching a team that was not expected to win, suddenly win it all. As baseball betting rolls along, fans are starting to wonder who the underdogs are this year. Here are some teams you can root for that may actually have a shot at making it to the big show.
Pittsburgh Pirates (Odds of winning World Series: 50/1)
You may want to read those odds again. When the book makers say 50/1, they are saying that Pittsburgh has an outside chance at winning it all. Can the Pirates do it? Pittsburgh is currently contending for the NL Central pennant and is right in the thick of the NL wild card race. If Pittsburgh makes it into the playoffs, it is hard to say what could happen.
Arizona Diamondbacks (Odds of winning Word Series: 35/1)
The Diamondbacks are competing in the NL West and are also within reach of the NL wild card. There are a lot of positive things going on in Arizona, including some extremely surprising pitching success. Will it translate into a World Series title? It very well could.
Chicago White Sox (Odds of winning World Series: 30/1)
Manager Ozzie Guillen may just stomp and swear his way to another World Series title if he can get his team to start playing better defense. The White Sox have been plagued by bad fielding and base running decisions this season. Smarter baseball could mean a trip to the World Series for the White Sox.
