MLB 2011 World Series Prediction

MLB

t is that time of year when the sports book experts start to consider who will be competing in the World Series and which team has the best chance to win it all. Teams that have laid dormant all season long suddenly spring to life in the chases for the AL and NL pennants. The Milwaukee Brewers are quietly running away with the NL Central pennant while the Texas Rangers could be playing themselves out of the playoffs in the AL West. Let’s look at who the top contenders are from each league and what we can expect to see come October.

AL

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are the two top contenders for the AL pennant, and neither team seems able to put the other away. The battle for the AL East pennant is the most contentious race in the majors with the loser at least assured of getting the AL wild card spot.

The Texas Rangers are barely clinging to the AL West pennant, and Texas could lose its lead if it is swept by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in a very important weekend series between the two teams.

But when the dust settles in AL, it will be between the Yankees and the Red Sox to decide who will represent the AL in the Fall Classic. The Red Sox have the edge in starting pitching and offense, which should propel Boston to the World Series.

Pick: Boston Red Sox

NL

The NL comes down to a choice between the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves. If you bet on MLB then you know that all three of these teams have solid starting rotations and can score runs. But the Braves seem to have developed the ability to win big games and continue to close what looked to be an insurmountable gap in the NL East pennant race with the Phillies. When the playoffs start in the NL, the Braves will be difficult to beat.

Pick: Atlanta Braves

World Series Pick: Boston Red Sox
